Deautybox Juli '15

Tijd voor een nieuwe Deautybox, die ook deze maand weer vol zit met leuke verwenproducten. Ik ben weer verwend... door mezelf ;) Overigens heb ik deze Deautybox al een behoorlijke tijd binnen, maar in de tussentijd ben ik op vakantie geweest in Portugal, dus ik stort me nu pas weer op het schrijven van blogposts.

Leeslijstje voor Portugal

Vorig jaar schreef ik nog over mijn "koffer vol met boeken"; dit jaar neem ik in plaats van zes boeken maar twee boeken mee op vakantie. Maar dit keer vergezeld mijn nieuwe liefde me, waardoor het inpakken een stuk makkelijker wordt: mijn iPad-mini, Toch heb ik al wel enigszins een idee wat ik deze vakantie wil gaan lezen en vandaag laat ik mijn "leeslijstje" zien.

Classics - Middlemarch

This is the Penguin English Library Edition of Middlemarch by George Eliot. 'She did not know then that it was Love who had come to her briefly as in a dream before awaking, with the hues of morning on his wings - that it was Love to whom she was sobbing her farewell as his image was banished by the blameless rigour of irresistible day'. George Eliot's most ambitious novel is a masterly evocation of diverse lives and changing fortunes in a provincial community. Peopling its landscape are Dorothea Brooke, a young idealist whose search for intellectual fulfillment leads her into a disastrous marriage to the pedantic scholar Casaubon; the charming but tactless Dr Lydgate, whose marriage to the spendthrift beauty Rosamund and pioneering medical methods threaten to undermine his career; and the religious hypocrite Bulstrode, hiding scandalous crimes from his past. As their stories interweave, George Eliot creates a richly nuanced and moving drama, hailed by Virginia Woolf as 'one of the few English novels written for adult people'.

Boeken Shoplog April, Mei, Juli

Aangezien ik de afgelopen maanden iets rustiger aan wilde doen met het kopen van boeken, vandaag pas weer een boekenshoplog. Op zich heb ik het in april (één graphic novel en twee little black classics), mei (één boek) en juni (géén boeken(!)) heel goed gedaan, alleen in juli is mijn boekenverzameling weer flink uitgebreid. Zo kreeg ik zeven boeken voor mijn verjaardag en kocht ik er zelf zeven (waaronder drie little black classics). Dus vandaag een toch iets grotere boekenshoplog dan verwacht, maar desalniettemin niet slecht voor vier maanden. Kijk met me mee.

Tenzij anders is vermeld (of ik het niet weet omdat het cadeautjes waren) komen al mijn boeken van BookDepository. De prijzen die ik vermeld kunnen inmiddels veranderd zijn, omdat BookDepository dagelijks de prijzen aanpast.
